Since its founding in 1962, Miss Rodeo Wisconsin has been a proud ambassador for the sport of rodeo, agriculture, and the Western way of life. The organization began with its first titleholder, Margaret Wisener, and has grown into a non-profit led by a dedicated committee of volunteers. Together, they work to promote a positive image of rodeo, foster public education, and celebrate the traditions that define Wisconsin’s agricultural and Western heritage.
Miss Rodeo Wisconsin provides young women with opportunities to develop public relations and leadership skills while representing the state and its rich rodeo culture. Each year, Miss Rodeo Wisconsin travels to events across the country, serving as an ambassador for Wisconsin and competing at the prestigious Miss Rodeo America Pageant in Las Vegas.
The organization also values the development of future leaders, introducing the Miss Teen Rodeo Wisconsin title in 2013. This program encourages younger participants to build confidence, enhance public speaking skills, and deepen their passion for rodeo. In 2025, Miss Rodeo Wisconsin will further expand its legacy with the introduction of the Miss Rodeo Wisconsin Sweetheart title, designed to inspire girls ages 5-10 and nurture their love for the Western lifestyle.
The Miss Rodeo Wisconsin crown tells a story as rich and diverse as the state itself. Over the years, its design has evolved, reflecting elements of Wisconsin's culture, history, and connection to rodeo.
Past crowns paid homage to Wisconsin's rodeo champions, featuring bulls to honor NFR qualifiers Fred Boettcher, BJ Shumacher, and Cory Check.
The current crown, crafted by Tres Rios Silver in 2014 and first worn in 2015, incorporates distinctive elements tied to Wisconsin, including red stones to represent the "stream of red stone" of the Wisconsin River, a copper border to reflect the 1800s mining history of Northern Wisconsin, and a bucking bull and bronc, symbolizing the iconic sport of rodeo.
Miss Rodeo Wisconsin is more than a title or a crown—it's a legacy of leadership, community, and celebration of the Western way of life that continues to inspire generations.
