Ashley Johnson lives on her family’s farm in Weyauwega, Wisconsin, where they raise beef cattle, sheep, mules, horses, pigs, and other small farm animals. She is one of six children in a family with two loving parents who instilled in them a strong work ethic from a young age.
Her passion for horses began early in life, as her father had her riding a mule before she could walk. At the age of 13, she received her first horse and enjoyed participating in events like the Waupaca County Fair, the State Mule Show, and on the high school equestrian team.
Throughout high school, the Agriculture room became her second home, where her dedication to the FFA flourished. She served as President of the chapter for two years and earned 1st place in Wisconsin for her Equine Proficiency. Her FFA Advisor inspired her to pursue a career as an agriculture teacher.
Volunteering there, she had a fruitful conversation with a man named Joe from the Manawa Lions Club. She shared that it would be her dream to be part of the Pink Ribbon Rebels Drill Team. Later in the performance, Joe introduced her to a teammate from the team, which changed her life forever. She was part of the Pink Ribbon Rebels Drill Team for two years. Ashley also explored barrel racing and roping, always striving to improve.
In 2022, she was crowned the Midwestern Rodeo Queen, as she wanted to give back to the rodeo that had changed her life. This led to an invitation from the Rodeo City Riders Drill Team coach to join their adult team. She rode with them for two years, and during that time, she was crowned Miss Teen Rodeo Wisconsin 2023.
Ashley is currently furthering her education at UW River Falls while caring for her two Australian Shepherds and her horse, Squash.
She stays busy at college, being highly active with the Ranch Team, Ag Ed Society, and the Women of Agriculture Club. She works at an elementary school in the morning before class and works nights at Kwik Trip on the weekends.
Ashley loves her life in River Falls. However, without rodeo in her life, there is a part of her heart that feels incomplete. She believes that God has guided her to this path because, as a rodeo queen, she feels most authentic. Her personality aligns perfectly with this role, as she is joyful, outgoing, caring, animal-loving, responsible, and always smiling.
She feels incredibly blessed for the support of many wonderful people who have helped her pursue her dreams. As she continues to strive for her aspirations, Ashley hopes to make everyone proud, as she reigns as Miss Rodeo Wisconsin 2025!
